4-H Network News: MGM Grand Las Vegas

Claire Turner, 4-H Network News reporter, stands in front of the MGM Grand Las Vegas, during her visit to cover the 2008 Academy of Country Music Awards. Claire walked the full length of the MGM Grand, which took about 20 minutes to accomplish! It was by far the biggest building she has ever seen in her life.

The hotel is full of Casino areas, fancy restaurants with etched glass walls reaching up 20 feet high, lion grottos, interactive sculptures, light shows, a rainforest eatery, shops, and more. Going from one end to the other you follow a carpeted path that winds you through all the various sites.

Outside are palm trees and beautiful architectural elements, including lots of glass and odd angles. Initially it was a slightly overwhelming experience with more to see and do than one could possibly imagine.

But Claire is looking forward to going back for the 2008 Academy of Country Music Awards tonight!

Claire's favorite parts of the show were the great French fries and the outlandish jester! She also liked the audience involvement in cheering and jeering the characters in the show. The horsemanship and sheer athleticism of this show was outstandingly impressive.
